We are searching for Virtual Seasonal Customer Service Representatives to join our team for the 2021 Holiday season. In this role, you will delight our customers by assisting them with ordering, sizing, checking availability and navigating our website.  

All seasonal roles will be 100% Remote/Work From Home. 

Job Description:  

The Virtual Seasonal Customer Service Representative will delight our customers by assisting them with ordering, sizing, checking availability and navigating our website. In this role, you could be responsible for taking incoming calls, emails or chats from customers regarding lost packages, exchanges/returns, shipping information, billing and a number of other questions. Every contact requires the representative to utilize selling skills to make effective recommendations to our customers and to act in a timely, tactful and professional manner at all times while assisting and resolving customer questions or concerns.  

Pay:  

  • The base rate of pay is $13.00 per hour.  
  • 10% per hour shift differential for any evening hours worked during the week as well as all day Saturday and Sunday

Responsibilities:

  • Utilize selling skills to make effective recommendations to our customers  
  • Resolve customer issues while utilizing negotiation skills

  • Interpret company policy and procedures in servicing customers  

Schedules:  

  • Our business is open 24-hours a day/ 7 days a week and we anticipate having a variety of start times to choose from.  
  • During high volume peak weeks employees are required to work overtime and certain blackout days (Black Friday and Cyber Day) 

Location Requirements:  

  • Candidates must reside within Ohio, Kentucky, Indiana, Georgia, New Mexico, Texas or Tennessee.  
  • Remote work allowed. #LI-Remote.

Qualifications: 

  • Must have customer service experience that involved making selling recommendations, resolving issues, utilizing negotiation skills, answering questions, providing information about policies & procedures   
  • Must have professional phone presentation and communication skills   
  • Must pass background check   
  • Basic typing/computer experience with excellent navigational skills   
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical computations   
  • Ability to handle high contact volume while maintaining superior customer relations and service   
  • Previous call center experience is a plus   
  • Regular and reliable attendance is essential

Primary Purpose:

Responsible for answering high volume inbound calls and providing effective quality customer service in regards to property insurance. Support borrowers and insurance carriers by providing detailed information on how to send us proper proof of insurance, de-escalate calls and process complaints and handle disbursement of premiums.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Following is a summary of the essential functions for this job. Other duties may be performed, both major and minor, which are not mentioned below. Specific activities may change from time to time.

  • Deliver timely, accurate customer service ensuring the highest level of satisfaction
  • Handle inbound telephone calls from borrowers, contractors and/or insurance adjusters in regards to property damage claims in order to resolve customer inquiries
  • Build customer service knowledge by taking initiative for learning additional processes, queues and client specific procedures to support customer in secondary areas and provide comprehensive, well informed responses to inquiries
  • Update records and note system as required
  • Able to meet and maintain availability standards, schedule adherence and attendance guidelines
  • Ability to work in fast paced environment
  • Flexibility in work hours and in changing environments
  • May assist answering questions in the help desk
  • May cross train to assist with borrower follow ups

Your career at Nationwide begins on Monday, January 10, 2022 with an award-winning training program that is designed to set you up for success and confidence in your new role. Your training schedule will be Monday–Friday, 8:00am-4:30pm CT, lasting 12 weeks.

Full-time schedules are 38.75 hours per week.

Des Moines and San Antonio area candidates will be located in office for first 6 months of employment.

  • Des Moines, IA schedule will be 8:30am-6pm CT Monday-Friday, and Sat 10am-2pm CT (Will have either Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday off).
  • San Antonio, TX schedule will be 11:30am-9pm CT Monday-Friday, and Sat 10am-2pm CT (Will have either Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday off).

Job Description Summary

Whether working to sell new or retain existing business, we are customer-focused, positive, persistent and tenacious. If you are technologically savvy, can connect and communicate in a fast-paced environment and adapt easily to changes, we want to know more about you!

As a Sales Agent, you’ll sell new multi-line property/casualty coverage over the phone with prospective customers in most states. You’ll also provide counseling about insurance needs and product availability. This will include providing quotes, determining eligibility and binding coverage after collecting all related underwriting data and information. You’ll specialize in personal lines (auto, home, boats, motorcycles, recreational vehicle, umbrellas, flood) business.

 

Job Description

Note: This job includes a multiple week training period where the associate is expected to achieve successful completion of training and assigned sales and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Handles incoming calls/emails from prospective personal lines customers for multiple lines of property/casualty business according to best practices. Performs outbound calls and follow-up work to close the sale.

  • Writes quality risk policies based on underwriting requirements; makes decisions by interpreting and using appropriate classification systems, rating plans, tiers, and selection standards; utilizes training and sales techniques to close the sale.

  • Answers questions, provides explanations, and makes recommendations to applicants regarding appropriate coverage for auto and/or property policies, limits, deductibles; considers customer needs as well as company guidelines. Determines and enters rating information into systems; provides quotation and binds coverage within prescribed limits.

  • Completes necessary applications and forms; issues conditional contact/binder within authority. Follows up for necessary documents and payments.

  • Assists and contributes to the team’s current quotas/goals by meeting individual quotas/goals, as well as unit/team goals.

  • Maintains current understanding and proficiency in sales techniques and product offerings, keeps up to date with market conditions and competitors, and systems enhancements. Cross-trains on other products and lines of business.

May perform other responsibilities as assigned.

Reporting Relationships: Reports to the Direct Sales Supervisor.

Typical Skills and Experiences: 

Education: High school diploma or equivalent; undergraduate studies preferred. Continuing education as required by state(s). Prefer participation in professional insurance coursework.

License/Certification/Designation: State licensing as required for property/casualty products. Continuing education as required by state(s). Associates must obtain the required state licenses within the time period designated by the business unit. If an associate fails or is unable to obtain required licenses/registrations within the time period designated by the business unit, the associate will be ineligible to continue in the position.

Experience: Typically, two years related work experience in sales and customer service. Prefer experience in auto and/or homeowners’ insurance. Prefer exposure to multiple product property/casualty insurance telemarketing in call center environment. Previous insurance industry experience may be considered in leu of sales experience.

Knowledge, Abilities and Skills: Knowledge of sales techniques, property/casualty insurance products, insurance processing systems and procedures, best practices, state regulations and customer service practices. Possesses strong verbal and interpersonal skills to communicate technical insurance information to prospective customers and influence prospective customers to select Nationwide products. Ability to operate personal computer hardware/software in a WINDOWS environment.

Other criteria, including leadership skills, competencies and experiences may take precedence.

Staffing exceptions to the above must be approved by the hiring manager’s leader and HR Business Partner.
