  • Under moderate supervision, serves as primary contact for support and service of commercial audits. Addresses questions and concerns from policyholders, agents, and business partners in an accurate and timely manner. Collects, sends, and routes forms and documentation necessary to assist customer requests. Provide support across a highly diverse, cross-functional product set, technology platforms and applications.

    • Acts as first point of contact for routine customer requests and queries related to audits requiring extensive phone and email interaction with policyholders, agents and third parties. 
    • Establishes and maintains a professional relationship with both external and internal customers while developing an understanding of service needs. 
    • Coordinates request activities with various departments to ensure efficient and quality service including but not limited to Underwriting, Billing, Premium Audit, Claims.
    • Completes basic research around customer queries and requests. If unable to resolve request, identifies and engages appropriate department, individual, or escalation path.
    • Routes requests and submissions using appropriate systems for assignment and resolution. Accurate and timely documentation of required transactions and customer interactions. Identify gaps in workflow and make recommendations around improving processes.

    Our hours of operation are Monday – Friday 8:00am – 8:00pm EST.  At this time our greatest need is on candidates in the Eastern and Central time zones. We cannot consider candidates in CA, HI or IL.

    Qualifications

    • Business background with knowledge of basic Commercial polices.
    • Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal skills.
    • Ability to communicate with individuals at all levels within and outside the organization.
    • Proficient in MS Office software applications (Excel, Word, etc.).
    • Demonstrates effective organization and workload management skills.
    • Knowledge, skills and competencies as normally acquired through an Associates degree or equivalent business background along with a minimum of 12 months related Commercial insurance experience.
    • Minimum of 1-2 years of relevant customer service or administrative experience. 
    • Prior Call Center experience preferred.

    Job Description
    This Care Management Associate (CMA) position is a 100% remote, work from home position and the candidate can live in any state.

    Normal Working Hours:
    -Monday through Friday only with no weekend or holiday shifts.
    -The Care Management Associate works 4 shifts per week from 8:00am-4:30pm in their time zone of residence.
    -The Care Management Associate works 1 late shift per week which is from 12:30pm-9:00pm EST (11:30-8:00pm CST, 10:30-7:00pm MST or 9:30-6:00pm PST).
    -The Care Management Associate also works a rotating Friday late shift which occurs approximately once every 3-4 months. That rotating Friday late shift is the same scheduled hours as their normal late shift which is 12:30pm-9:00pm EST (11:30-8:00pm CST, 10:30-7:00pm MST or 9:30-6:00pm PST).
    -The shift times may vary per the needs of the business.

    There is no travel required with the position.

    The Care Management Associate on the Lifestyle Conditioning Coaching (LCC) team plays an essential role in assisting the Coach in the development of effective and efficient care coordination and self-care for our members.

    The primary duties of the Care Management Associate include (not an all-encompassing list):
    -Responsible for making outreach calls to members who are eligible for our programs.
    -Manages the inbound call activity in a queue
    -Provides an initial review of tasks and other administrative type activities that support the unit
    -Navigates the computer systems while communicating on the phone with members

  • The Care Management Associate position is ideally suited for people with strong customer service skills, the ability to work in a remote team, provide excellent customer service to members while navigating the computer at the same time, and possess the ability to manage multiple priorities with effective time management.

    Pay Range
    The typical pay range for this role is:
    Minimum: 18.50
    Maximum: 34.60

    Please keep in mind that this range represents the pay range for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls. The actual salary offer will take into account a wide range of factors, including location.

    Required Qualifications
    -1+ years of experience with computers including knowledge of Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel
    -Requires long periods of sitting and telephone and computer work.

    Preferred Qualifications
    -2+ years of work experience in telephonic customer service
    -Knowledge of Managed Care concepts
    -Experience with data entry and documentation within member records
    -Background in a health care setting with familiarity with basic medical terminology
    -Call center experience
    -Proficiency in typing for keying in information and navigating in multiple systems
    -Strong telephonic communication skills
    -Strong organizational skills with an ability to prioritize tasks to meet time-sensitive deadlines
    -Effective verbal and written communications skills with both customers and teammates

    Education
    High School diploma or equivalent years of experience.

    Primary Responsibilities:

    • Handle escalated inbound calls, resolving more complex customer issues in a one and done manner
    • Demonstrate outstanding service to identify the source of the issue and work to resolve customer inquiries and issues in a timely and professional manner, related to benefits, eligibility and claims, and correspondence
    • Help guide and educate customers about the fundamentals and the benefits to them of consumer-driven health care topics to include managing their health and well-being by selecting the best benefit plan options, maximizing the value of their health plan benefits and choosing a quality care provider
    • Assist customers in navigating UnitedHealth Group websites and encourage and reassure them to become self-sufficient
    • Own problem through to resolution on behalf of the customer in real time or through comprehensive and timely follow-up with the customer 
    • Research complex issues across multiple databases and work with support resources to resolve customer issues
    • Provide status on previously submitted pre-authorizations or pre-determination requests

    This role is equally challenging and rewarding. You’ll be called on to research complex issues pertaining to the caller’s health, status and potential plan options. To do this, you’ll need to navigate across multiple databases which requires fluency in computer navigation and toggling while confidently and compassionately engaging with the caller.

Manage Claim Files:

  • Handle assigned claims in a manner consistent with corporate claim policies and procedures, and statutory, regulatory and ethics requirements and business unit goals.
  • Properly assess the exposure of assigned claims; set appropriate and timely reserves.
  • Manage all aspects of assigned claims, which includes initial claim contact, reserve and execute accurate and timely payments, investigate coverage and recovery opportunities, manage file to timely resolution, and complete all data integrity components.
  • Utilize organization and communication skills to effectively resolve assignments, manage claim deadlines, and appropriately manage vendors.
  • Develop technical and jurisdictional expertise, including knowledge of independent adjusters, contractors, vendors, etc.

  • Maintain dedication to meeting or exceeding expectations and requirements of internal and external customers.

What are we looking for?

  • College degree and/or 1+ year of related customer service, Military or insurance experience
  • High level of performance in current or past roles
  • Experience writing structural damage estimates using computerized software applications such as Xactimate is a plus
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills inclusive of investigation, decision making and conflict resolution, with attention to detail.
  • Ability to negotiate for resolution.
  • Effective time-management skills and the ability to work independently.
  • Ability to create and maintain loyal customers through your actions.
  • Ability to demonstrate active listening skills and exhibit empathy during difficult situations.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and accurately – both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to adapt to change and to learn and utilize multiple systems to manage claims
  • Computer literacy and strong keyboard skills.

 

What else can you tell me?

  • You must obtain and maintain a State Adjuster’s License to process Property & Casualty Insurance Claims in the states supported by your department. You will be required to successfully pass the Licensing exam(s) within 30 business days from the completion of the licensing training.
  • In the Catastrophe Claim Representative role, we are The Hartford’s primary response to catastrophe events in the Property line of business. As such, volume in this role can be high and/or volatile and may require extended hours/overtime and working weekends.
  • This is a 100% remote, work from home opportunity.
  • This position has a start date of May 1, 2023
  • Training will likely include travel to the Chicago area (Aurora, IL) for an in-person learning lab from June 19, 2023 through June 30, 2023. You should have no conflicts during training.
