Graphic design is one of Upwork’s hottest categories, and it’s where I make the most of my money.

Clients are looking for graphic design work in practically every field and medium, from printed layouts and posters to small projects like social media graphics and YouTube thumbnails.

There are typically around 3,000 tasks advertised in this category alone, so if you have any experience with graphic design, you may make a great living on Upwork.

2. Virtual Assistant

Hourly rates range from $5 to $60
Fixed prices range from $50 to $700. (usually on retainer)
More and more small business owners are realizing that they require the assistance of a virtual assistant to keep things going smoothly. Email management, customer follow-up phone calls, social media marketing, and project planning are all chores that virtual assistants may aid with.

On Upwork, there are slightly under 3,000 different social media marketing jobs! It’s also one of the platform’s most paid professions.

If you have any experience with social media marketing, you may make a lot of money by playing your cards well and applying for employment that match your qualifications.

Web design is a skill that just under 3,000 clients are wanting to employ someone for right now, and they’re willing to pay top dollar if you’re good at it!

6. Blog Writing or Copywriting

Despite the fact that I lumped them together, copywriting often pays a little more than blog writing, although both are generally for fixed-price employment. Most clients, for example, will offer to pay you a certain amount each article, while others may offer to pay you per word or per 100 words; it all depends.

7. Focus on One Skill

I’d definitely concentrate even more on the content niche and forego the other positions. When you are an expert in something and have reviews to prove it, it is much easier to locate well-paying internet jobs. Yes, there will be fewer career opportunities, but being specialized will benefit you in the long run.

8. Set up a Professional Profile

Your profile must be up to date. Make sure you choose a generic yet descriptive job title that a client may easily find while looking for freelancers.

The description is where the majority of folks fall short. It’s not just about you, your skills, and your experiences in your profile content. It should also include how you can assist potential clients or employers in resolving their issues. What are some ways that potential clients can benefit from your knowledge?

Knowing that this is about them and that I am doing my best to assist them in resolving their problems gives them a pleasant feeling.

9. Start small

We all want large positions and can’t afford to labor for pennies on the dollar. However, on freelance services such as Upwork, it is critical to receive positive feedback first. If you can’t verify your legitimacy, no one will give you a big deal.

You must start small before you can scale your business. Go for short, low-paying jobs where you know you’ll be able to do a decent job and receive positive feedback. Just take a deep breath and do it. It will undoubtedly be beneficial to you in the long term.

10. Individual proposals

This is the most critical action you must take: Individual proposals are required! Yes, you will submit a large number of applications. Never, ever, use standard copy paste texts

From the perspective of a client, this is a complete nightmare. Those proposals are immediately deleted. If you don’t take the time to sit down and compose a unique message, I’m confident you’re not serious about the position.

11. Be Quick

Checking how many proposals a position received, how many people are interviewing, and how many are hired is always a good idea.

If you see that someone else has already been hired, don’t be discouraged. You never know what might happen. Perhaps the client is dissatisfied with the work of the hired individual. Perhaps your proposal is so good that the client will hire you for another project. You should try it nonetheless if you think it would help for you.

12. Follow up

If you email your proposal and make contact with a client but don’t hear back, you may write a follow-up asking if there is anything unclear or if there is anything else you can do. It will indicate that you are sincerely interested in the job if you don’t come off as pushy.

You might also send follow-up emails to clients with whom you’ve previously worked. Perhaps they have a new task to complete. However, don’t send more than one follow-up email. Maintain a cheerful and professional demeanor.

13. Go beyond Your Tasks

Don’t get me wrong: there are absolutely those clients who will never be satisfied. They will always find something to dislike no matter what you do. Before you accept the bargain, try to notice the complainers, and if you have a bad feeling about it, decline it. It’s not worth jeopardizing your ratings.

14. Communicate

Ask if anything is unclear, whether it’s at the start of your career or later on. You will not be reprimanded by a client for asking pertinent questions during the procedure. They’ll be irritated, however, when you’re done and it’s not what they expected.

Call them if something is too complex to convey by text. Upwork also allows you to make voice and video calls. Sometimes all it takes is a 5-minute phone call to save you hours of wasted time.

15. Go for Bigger Projects

I’m sure you don’t want to do the USD 10 tasks indefinitely. Once you’ve gotten a few positive reviews, you can start upping your rates and taking on bigger assignments.

You can specifically filter for positions that demand a higher level of experience and are ongoing if you desire. Keep the Upwork costs in mind at all times. You’ll have to pay higher fees if you do more short-term tasks. Fees begin to decrease once you have earned USD 500 for one client. That is your goal!
