How to Work from Home

What Kind of Work Can I Do From Home?

Work at Home at What You Love

Work is only really WORK when you are doing something to earn money when you would rather be doing something else. When you are doing something that you love to do even if you ARE earning money, it can’t really be called work, can it?

That’s the point. When you are deciding what kind of work-at-home business that you will start, the single most important factor is choosing something that you are truly passionate about. If you do that, you won’t be working — you’ll be doing what you love.

For example, if you are passionate about animals and maybe cats in particular, then choose a work-at-home business that relates to cats. There are a lot of subcategories under the general category “cats.” There are all the various breeds of cats, for example, and there are subjects like cat health care, grooming, feeding, training, etc. that all relate to a subject that you love — cats.

You will spend many, many hours working to make your work-at-home business successful. If you choose a topic that you really are very interested in, the work will be interesting and pleasurable. Just because you love the topic doesn’t necessarily mean that making your work-at-home business successful will be easier — it won’t. But loving your topic will sure make your work-at-home business more enjoyable for you.

Making a work-at-home business successful doesn’t happen overnight. You aren’t likely to be able to start your website today and quit your day job tomorrow — that is, if you’d like to eat next week. You’re going to spend a lot of time, and you are going to have to put a lot of time in just thinking about your topic. Love it, and you’ll enjoy it. Hate it, and you won’t last long.

Setting Up Your Work at Your Home Office

If your objective is to earn a living by working at home using your own personal computer, then you are going to have to have a home office. Don’t panic!

A home office ideally is a separate room with a door, but a corner of a room that is used for another purpose can also serve as a home office, provided you make the correct provisions (a bedroom or a den, for example).

Unless you are going to host clients or others in your home office, not a lot of furniture or even space is required. You need a desk and a chair. You need good lighting. As for equipment, you need your computer, a printer/scanner and (if possible) a telephone that is a separate line from your home phone with a headphone for hands-free use.

You can see that this furniture and equipment needed for a work-at-home office could easily be contained in the corner of a room that is used for other purposes. But the furniture and the equipment are not the only parts of setting up a home office. The most important aspect is being able to actually WORK in your home office with a minimum of distractions and interruptions. That’s why the ideal solution is a separate room in your home that is used exclusively as a home office. That isn’t always possible, but it is the ideal solution.

When choosing a room in your home or an area of a room in your home to use as your home-office space, try to choose one that is as far away from normal household activity as possible. If there are children, try to choose a place that is not a regular play area for them. You ARE going to have to be able to concentrate in order to get your work done, and the location of your home office has a lot of impact on your ability to concentrate

What Are The Highest Paying Work from Home Jobs?

How Do You Make Money Working from Home?

Can You Work at Home and Make Money?

Absolutely yes! You can make a lot of money working at home. Today, more than 8 million Americans successfully work from home.

Millions more do a combination of online business, side hustles, online surveys and many other online side gigs.

For example, Caitlin Pyle was dramatically fired from her 9 to 5 job in Orlando, Florida. Within a short time, Caitlin started an online proofreading business and became a multi-millionaire at the young age of 30 years.

Work at home success is absolutely within your reach. But first, you have to invest in yourself; acquire the knowledge and skills you need to succeed.

If you don’t, success can be hard. Here are the cold hard facts about starting a business on the Internet that you can successfully run from your own personal computer. The numbers aren’t pretty for those who are not well-prepared. Ninety percent of the people who start Internet-based businesses today will NOT still be in business in 90 days. That’s true. Only about 10% of online businesses stay in business longer than 90 days.

The 90% failure rate is caused for a whole host of reasons. Mostly, people begin an online business with little or no capital and they expect instant success. You’d have a better chance of winning the lottery or being struck by lightning twice than starting an Internet business that began to make money on day one. And like any business, an Internet business requires capital. Granted, starting an Internet business is far less expensive than starting a business out in the brick-and-mortar world but it still isn’t FREE.

A great many people start an Internet business on a whim. They don’t have a clear idea of exactly how their Internet business is going to generate income, and they certainly don’t have any kind of business plan.

Have you ever heard the old adage, “A little knowledge is a dangerous thing”? A little knowledge IS a dangerous thing. A little knowledge leaves too much room for mistakes…expensive ones…business-ending ones.

Businesses, all businesses, both those that conduct business out in the “real” world and those that conduct business online, require a good basic business knowledge, a well-thought-out workable business plan, and capital. If any of those three ingredients are missing, the odds against opening a successful business are practically nil.

Can you work at home and make money? The answer is a qualified yes. You can if you are willing to work for and wait for success. You can if you have good basic business knowledge or are willing to get it. You can if you have at least some capital to invest.

Work at Home Secrets of Success

People do successfully work from home. Some of those people have even made very, very large sums of money by working from home. You can work from home and you can do so very successfully, but you do need to know the secrets of success that others have already discovered. You don’t have to make all the mistakes yourself, you know.

Secret of work at home success #1: Work Space! A work space that is as far away from family activity as possible — preferably with a door that closes — is one of the secrets of success. Constant distractions and constant interruptions are detrimental to accomplishment of any kind.

Secret of work at home success #2: Organization! Organization of your work space as well as of the rest of your home is essential to success. Without organization, you spend far too much time searching for things that aren’t where you thought they were. You can’t work in the middle of chaos and expect to create accurate and orderly work.

Secret of work at home success #3: Schedules! A schedule is a plan for accomplishing specific tasks by specific times. If you don’t have a plan for success, then you do have a certain plan for failure. Schedules apply to both your work at home work and your live-at-home life.

Secret of work at home success #4: Rules! When you start working from home, your family and your friends are going to see you as basically unemployed and therefore available to run errands, drink coffee, and chat on the phone. You must lay down the rules and then you must abide by them and firmly insist that your family and friends abide by them as well.

Secret of work at home success #5: Determination! Nothing is ever quite as easy as it looks, and working from home isn’t, either. When things don’t go as planned, you must be willing to pull up your socks and try, try again — as many times as it takes.
